Rayform

Rayform vs Niantic Spatial

A capture app that turns a scan into a static simulation scene, versus Rayform's processing of full robot recordings over time.

What Niantic Spatial does.

Niantic Spatial's Scaniverse app turns a 360 capture into a single USDZ file that pairs a Gaussian splat with an aligned collision mesh, ready for Isaac Sim. It also offers a library of about 100 environments packaged the same way.

Where they are strong

  • Very easy capture with a phone or a low-cost 360 camera.
  • Gravity-aligned, metric-scale scenes in one file that opens in Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab.
  • Free sample scenes and a capture app anyone can use.

How Rayform differs

  • Scaniverse produces a static scene: one moment of a place. Rayform processes recordings over time, with people and robots acting in them.
  • Rayform aligns robot joint and gripper state with the sensors and marks interactions, so the output is training data, not only a backdrop.

Choose Niantic Spatial when

  • You need static backgrounds for a simulated robot, captured quickly with a phone.

Choose Rayform when

  • You record robots or people doing tasks and want to train on what happened.
  • You need robot state and sensor streams aligned with the scene.
